Yared/Yara Session + Press Play Penya Session

On Monday I was invited to add some percussion to an album collaboration between film composer Gabriel Yared (the English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley etc) and Lebanese pop singer Yara .. The session was at Abbey Road studio 3.....

...I played on 5 songs which were all lovely compositions - I took along many drums but ended up playing detuned Congas and Bongos (nice warm sound), Ghatam and Kanjira (South Indian drums) plus some bones. I also layered up a load different percussion tracks to create a dramatic climax point in one song, which was demanding but I really enjoyed it.

This week I also took my band Penya into Press Play Studio in Bermondsey to film a live performance of our next single "Solo el Amor" - Andy Ramsay, who runs the studio is a fantastic engineer, who used to play drums for Stereo Lab - a top bloke, I highly reccomend him and his studio.....

In my home studio here in Peckham I've been finishing off some percussion over dubs for an EP release I'm working on with my mate and don guitarist Dario Rossetti Bonell - we'll hopefully get it out early 2014

..... that's my year pretty much finished - I'm off on Holiday to Kerala, South India with the missus on Sunday for a month! - i'll be blogging about that from time to time I'm sure.....
