Warbeck session at Air Studios + Ivor Cutler + Nick Pynn
Last Sunday I played percussion on a Spanish film for composer Stephen Warbeck. - the film was about the late golfer Seve Ballesteros and the session took place at Air Studio 1 - the music had a spanish/folk/filmic type sound. I used a rope tentioned Alfaia drum which I played with brushes for alot of the session but also played some tambourines, frames drums, shakers and surdo. Frank Ricotti was playing Vibraphone and Marimba on the session and listening to him play was an education to say the least.
I've also just added some percussion to an almost completed album for Kate Daisy Grant and Nick Pynn - this sounds like a wonderful album from what I have heard sofar.
I met Nick recently whilst working on "The Beautiful Cosmos of Ivor Cutler" with the National Theatre of Scotland and Vanishing Point Theatre Company - we have just finished a month of devising the show and on Monday I will travel to Inverness to start a month long tour of the production, which is shaping up very well - more details here . Getting to know Ivor Cutler's work has been an inspiration
Also, Penya have just released this live studio video....
