Autumn 2015 update
Stuff I've been upto:
Penya's first album is finished ! Over a year of work via our studio in Brixton, our producer Leon Brichard' studio, and Fish Factory studios has finally rendered 10 finished tracks via the mastering studio of Mandy Parnell - we are now dealing with the artwork and other important release details .... as you can see from the photo I'm playing mainly guitar on this album, plus some percussion ....

Tamar Osbourn's band "Collocutor" also has an album in gestation - currently at the writing and thinking deeply stage - the album we hope, is to be recorded in January 2016 ! We also have some gigs coming up in London, including this showcase on 10 Nov supported by On the Corner , which we are looking forward to.
I seem to be playing alot of Indian percussion this year - I've just started the recording sessions for the second series of the channel four Indian Summers drama (music by Stephen Warbeck) on which I am playng various percussion including Indian drums such as the Mridangam, Ghatam, Kanjira and Dhol, alongside two other percussionists - Paul Clarvis and Kuljit Bhamra - these sessions are going on throughout the winter, at Air Studios.
I've also been working with Kuljit on the West End musical "Bend it like Beckham," depping for the amazing Bhangra percussionsit Bindi Sagoo - I enjoyed learning a new drum for this - the Dholak, which was useful for me in understanding the way those kind of Bhangra grooves work.
Medieval music has also featured this year, via lots of UK tour dates with Belinda Syke's and Joglaresa - In this band I've applied lots of North African and Middle Eastern ideas to a completely new kind of setting for me, and have enjoyed playing in beautiful, big open acoustics . This collaboration has resulted in an EP that I produced and played percussion on via an all night recording session in August - for more details and to listen to the results of this click here.
